Much information, such as quotes and character descriptions were found in the Goblet of Fire book and I do not claim ownership to these. However, I did take the time to write and then type them out, so if you anyone uses them I'd appreciate a link back.

Barty Crouch Jr.

(Chapter: The Pensive): A boy in his late teens. Straw-colored hair, pale, freckled skin.

(Chapter: Veritaserum): Then before Harry’s very eyes, the face of the man on the floor began to change. The scars were disappearing, the skin was becoming smooth; the mangled nose became whole and started to shrink. The long mane of grizzled gray hair was withdrawing into the scalp and turning the color of straw. Suddenly, with a loud clunk, the wooden leg fell away as a normal leg regrew in its place, next moment, the magical eyeball had popped out of the man’s face as a real eye replaced it; it, rolled away across the floor and continued to swivel in every direction. Harry say a many lying there before him, pale-skinned, slightly freckled, with a mop of fair hair. He knew who he was. He had seen him in Dumbledore’s pensive, had watched him being led away from court by the dementors, trying to convince Mr. Crouch that he was innocent… but he was lined around the eyes now and looked much older…

Lord Voldemort

(Before rebirth): Was the shape of a crouched human child. It was hairless and scaly-looking, a dark, raw, reddish black. Its arms and legs were thin and feeble, and its face was flat and snakelike, with gleaming red eyes.

(After rebirth): Tall and skeletally thin. His face was whiter than a skull. His hands were like large, pale spiders, his long white fingers caressed his own chest, his arms, his face, the red eyes, whose pupils were like slits, like a cat’s, gleamed still more brightly through the darkness.

Relationship

This is a very interesting relationship, it’s sort of twisted father/son relationship to Barty. Barty strived to please The Dark Lord, he was willing to do anything to make him proud. He desperately desired to be even more than Voldemort’s most faithful supporter.

Barty and Voldemort had similarities. They both hated their fathers and to much of their dislking were named after them. And eventually they both killed their fathers. They both had mothers who died. Perhaps both died from heart break? I believe this could very well be the case. Voldemort’s mother died while giving birth to him so he really was never shown care at all. Barty Jr. on the other hand was, but he was separated from his mother for so long that I do believe he lost much of it. I also believe Crouch Jr.‘s father played a big part in the deterioration of his son. Not only the years he kept him away like a prisoner but before that. When he was a child perhaps.. His father's first love was his work, perhaps he should have been there for his son and his wife. I can conclude from the evidence that Barty did not have a good childhood. Which very well could be why even though twisted, he still has this need for guidance and praise. Voldemort never had that which is why he never sought out any. They have similar pasts but the degree of them is very different.

I believe Barty thought more of their relationship than Voldemort ever did or would, but I also believe Barty did not see it this way. Barty did get the praise he deserved and he did make Lord Voldemort proud. Barty wanted the Death Eaters who ran away from the Dark Mark he shot up in the sky at The Quidditch World Cup to be tortured and punished by The Dark Lord, for their unfaithfulness among other things. He worshiped The Dark Lord and absolutely hated the disloyal Death Eaters who abandoned Lord Voldemort when he needed them most, the ones who walked free from Azkaban. The Death Eaters at the Quidditch World Cup used being a Death Eater to frighten others, but when Crouch shot the Dark Mark in the air they fled out of fear. Crouch was extremely loyal and did not take well with those who disrespected his master.

Barty did everything for Lord Voldemort, he used everything in him to hand Harry to him. He used Polyjuice Potion all year long to impersonate Mad-Eye Moody. He had to keep Moody alive, and in control by means of the Imperius curse. Then the whole year he guided, but not obviously, Harry so he would win.

The plan was good for no one believed Barty Crouch Jr. to be alive. His mother convinced his father to rescue him from Azkaban after he had been convicted of being a Death Eater as a last wish. She knew she would be dying soon, so by means of Polyjuice Potion Barty and his mother took the form of the other and he was “free” He remained under the control of his father for many years to come, but eventually he began fighting the Imperius curse. Winky, the Crouchs' house elf convinced Barty Crouch sr. to take Barty Crouch Jr. to the Quidditch World cup since he had loved Quidditch and because he needed fresh air. Winky also threw his mother into the mix by saying how his mother would not have wanted to save her son from prison only to give him a life of imprisonment.

He managed to steal Harry’s wand and was angry and wanted to punish the disloyal Death Eaters. Though unable to do what he wished he did manage to fire the Dark Mark into the sky. He was put back under the control of his father. Winky had been dismissed for she had failed Crouch Sr. That was a pretty big mistake for it was now only Crouch Jr. and Sr. in the house alone, and Sr. was not aware of just how strong Barty was getting. The Dark Lord then came for him. There had been one other who knew of Barty Jr., and that was Bertha Jorkins. She found out and when trying to confront Crouch Sr. about it he put a memory charm on her that was too powerful and caused her memory to be damaged permanently. Bertha ended up being used and that was how Lord Voldemort found out Barty Crouch Jr. was alive. He came for Barty, and put his father, Barty Sr. under the Imperius curse. Barty was very happy about this. Not only because it was his dream to prove himself to his master, but also because he wanted to see the father he hated so much suffer, suffer like he himself had for years. He wanted to see his father controlled, he wanted to see him get what he deserved.

Overall I see Barty as being a lost little boy. He obviously never had a good relationship with his father, he absolutely hated the man. I can’t really blame him either. Crouch wasn’t such a good guy. I am sure there were many other reasons his hate became as strong as it was. He seemed to desire someone to replace the father he never had. Voldemort was everything in Barty’s eyes. He was desperate to please him, much like a child is to a parent. Barty took it to the extremes. He would have done absolutely anything for Lord Voldemort. He took tremendous risks, he made sacrifices, he worked so hard and never gave up. He made sure he would be the one to hand Harry to Voldemort. He sought out someone to be proud of him, but in a more obscure way. Lord Voldemort on the other hand obviously does not feel the same way. Barty Jr. was a convenience. People thought he was dead, no one ever be expecting this to happen. Lord Voldemort also knew he was a loyal servant of his and was willing to risk everything. It was a perfect plan. I absolutely loved the fascinating and complex relationship between these two.
