The Leaders

Isaac Chroner-
Isaac Chroner was the leader in the first movie and a semi leader in the sixth. He was a boy-preacher who came to Gatlin, a small town in Nebraska. He came to rid the town of all the adults and basically convert all the children to his way of thinking and for the coming of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Isaac took over, after the children of Gatlin began to see him as a leader figure, following him into the corn and listening to his preaching of He Who Walks Behind the Rows, not everyone was convinced though. Job, Sarah, and Joseph wanted nothing to do with Isaac. Eventually, most of the children completely converted to his way of thinking, and murdered their parents and the other adults at his will. He's very loyal to He Who Walks Behind the Rows, and does everything he asks. But some of the Children start to look at Malachai as more of a leader figure and the children end up crucifying Isaac and offering him to He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Isaac’s very angry of course, but he is also very upset. He’s teary-eyed, most likely because he was scared. That part honestly makes me upset though. It's sad seeing their strong following fall a part. All in all Isaac is a very good leader, he’s not overly obsessed with killing, only when necessary, and unlike Malachai he thinks things through and looks ahead.

Malachai-
Malachai is sort of Isaac’s hit man. He’s basically in charge of the killings and seems to be quite obsessed with rules, and killing as well. He tried numerous times to get rid of Job and Sarah, for their rule breaking. Eventually the children start looking at Malachai as more of a leader. This is most likely because they see him as being stronger than Isaac and less lenient. One scene in the movie is particularly interesting, when the children are in their church, one of the outlanders the children have been searching for, Burt, comes in. Rachel, who’s basically in charge of the church service tells a kid to go get Isaac; then she says never mind ‘BRING MALACHAI‘. A lot of the children were in shock and couldn’t believe it. She basically started the whole thing with Malachai being their new leader. Things like this do happen, some groups aren’t happy with their current leader and grow tired of them, then betray them, and go for someone they see as being more powerful and stronger.

Micah-
Micah Is the third leader. He was possessed by He Who Walks Behind the Rows in the cornfields, after the bodies were discovered and the children were in the process of being adopted by various Hemmingford residents. He seems innocent enough and pretty scared prior to the possession. He Who Walks Behind the Rows forced his essence into Micah's body, destroyed all the good in him, and replaced it with the seed of evil, and the way they show it is pretty obvious what is happening to him. (White cells being replaced by black ones, and him getting lost in his own self.) Voodoo dolls were a big source of his power as was a sort of mind control he possessed using various objects. His deaths were pretty unique I'd say. The one time he used a voodoo doll on a man and basically made the guy bleed to death through various areas, all while church was session. The remote control for the toy car and the old lady in her wheelchair death was pretty cool too, and an intelligent maneuver on his part. People thought the lady was in the control of her wheelchair, nothing to be suspicious of there. His voice would be come demonic when he was really angry or he was shouting, his eyes would also become completely black. He's a little too trusting which makes me feel sorry for him. He ends up dying because of it. As he was dying He Who Walks Behind the Rows left his body to protect himself and you could see Micah was back to his 'old self'.

Eli Porter-
Eli is the fourth leader. He murdered his parents by burning them alive in the cornfield while they were in their beds. He also murdered Joshua's father. He basically turned him into a scarecrow and left him for dead. His power of mind control is very strong indeed. He, and his half-brother Joshua were then adopted by a family in Chicago. He has a connection to He Who Walks Behind the Rows, but he's a different creature. Eli appears human, but is really a huge creature with tentacle-like claws and fangs. He was at first an outcast at his new school but then starts turning the student population, for the exception of his half-brother, Joshua and his friend Malcolm, to basically mindless drones, following the orders of He Who Walks Behind the Rows. They were completely unaware of what they were doing. They all dressed and acted the same. He carries a bible with him which acts as his ‘other half‘. As Joshua discoverd, Eli is sort of like a worm, one half being his body, and the other his bible, so naturally he’s very protective of his bible.

Josiah-
Josiah is the fifth leader. He was a boy preacher when he was alive. His mother abandoned him at a very young age in a Cornfield. He was taken in by a group of traveling preachers. Through some miraculous way, he learned how to preach as if it were in his blood. People came to hear him, and the preachers made money off of him. He was known as the ‘amazing boy preacher‘. The preachers knew that to keep the people coming and paying, Josiah had to look as young as possible, or otherwise he would be just a normal preacher, and not a miraculous child preacher, you could see anywhere. So they didn't let him sleep, they fed him, quicksilver, or poison, and did everything to keep him as young as possible. All this torture made poor Josiah go insane. The preachers finally decided to sell his soul in return for his youth. Not being to able to take anymore, Josiah hacked them to death in the middle of the night. Word spread, and the people dragged him out into the cornfields, and burned him alive. Josiah comes back later to avenge his death, and get his life back. The only way for him to fully come back however, is to find a child, a like child, that was just as abandoned and lied to as he was, and sacrifice the child's life for his. He's obsessed with regaining his life, and he won’t let anyone get in his way. He also has an extremely strong power over the children. He’s able to do one thing and have it affect every child in the town without even being face to face with them.

Ezeekial-
Ezeekial is the sixth leader. He is extremely determined to please He Who Walks Behind the Rows. He was possessed by He Who Walks Behind the Rows while in the corn field. He lives with a small group of children and a man named Luke Enright on a farm, where they have their own lives and live in peace, it‘s sort of like their own town, only it‘s being run by a bunch of kids. It’s a cult of children who have no where to go, children who were lied to, unloved, and abandoned. Ezeekial is the leader, and the others listen to him. He does not accept insubordination, or blasphemy. He has no pity on anyone, and has the one purpose of serving a higher power. He also thinks things through a lot like Isaac. He doesn’t jump into things like some of the other children, which makes him a good leader. Anyone can kill, but not all can do it reasonably.

Gabriel-
Gabriel is the seventh leader. He really shows no emotion at all, though he is quite the actor. He has a very strong power of mind control. With practically no effort he’s able to turn a gun pointed at himself to the person holding it and cause them to shoot themselves. He seems to find controlling people’s actions very entertaining. When he made the woman turn the gun, point it at herself, and then shoot herself he said, ‘bang’ and at that exact moment it happened. Also when he caused an explosion he said, ‘boom’ and then it happened. He ended up killing Isaac as well, he seemed to be very displeased with him. One reason being Isaac tried to deny Gabriel his birth right of being the first son born and fathering a new generation of The Children of the Corn leaders. Isaac wanted that for his own son, Matt, but that wasn’t going to happen. He’s very sly, believable, and people trust him, he’s also patient in getting what he wants, which is a good quality in a leader. Gabriel is He Who Walks Behind the Rows, which was a very big shock to them all, especially to Isaac.

Abel-
He was the eighth leader, but if you want to get technical he's been around a while. He definitely holds grudges. He seems to be possessed by He Who Walks Behind the Rows, his voice is not his own, it sounds more demonic than anything. Which is probably so since He Who Walks Behind the Rows is most likely what made the children all come back from the dead. He’s avenging He Who Walks Behind the Rows, even after death. He had started a cult, or The Children of the Corn a very long time ago. When they were found out, they all burned themselves alive in a tent, to escape the adults, except for one girl who according to Abel, “ran away like a frightened little child” Abel killed Jamie’s parents just like he did her Grandmother and now he wants to kill her. He knows this is He Who Walks Behind the Rows’ plan, and that Jamie, nor her parents, nor her Grandmother should be alive since her Grandmother’s place was in the tent sacrificing herself to He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Abel is a pretty strong leader, even if he is dead.
